August 7, 2009

It's Friday, thank goodness, that extra hour of sleep on the weekends, for some reason, does me a lot of good. My animals need to be out of their homes by 7am, so no sleeping in for me. That's just one of the joys of living on a small farm (among other things of course).

So yesterday morning I went out to the duck pen, and to my joy I had 2 eggs waiting for me! I had been getting one egg every morning for the last few weeks, and I believe that I am waiting for one more female duck to start laying, then I will have 3 eggs a day, so if anyone loves duck eggs (great for baking) let me know and I will hook you up.

It rained a little bit last night, more like a drizzle I believe. But it was nice to have, my fish pond has lost a little bit of water, so any little drizzle will help. The ducks also loved the wet grass, the rain brought out the slugs, so they were in heaven. Yeah, they can eat all of the slugs they want, especially the ones that invade my garden.

Today I am taking the boys to their yearly Dr. Appointments. Every time I bring it up to Mason he panics about getting shots, it almost bring him to tears. Moses on the other hand tells me that he doesn't mind the little pokey shots, just the ones that poke his bones (bad experience one time). Tyson is going with us, just in case there is a breakdown or two. I will let you know how it goes, hopefully not too eventful.

So, I have a few goals this summer. One of my goals is canning vegetables out of my garden and from u-pick farms. I would like to can blackberry jam (already started picking), Green beans, potatoes, tomato sauce, and pickled veggies. Any other ideas, please let me know. I want to stock my pantry as much as possible.

So I promise to takes pictures of my garden this weekend, I have to say, although small, I am pretty proud. Have a great weekend everyone!
